Meet Matt Vilardebo
Husband. Father. Advocate for Fort Mill and South Carolina.
Since 2017, Matt and his wife of 23 years, Elida—an educator with the Fort Mill School District—have proudly called Fort Mill home. Their children, Clark and Rylee, both graduated from Fort Mill’s excellent public schools. Clark is now a senior at Winthrop University, while Rylee serves in the United States Navy. The Vilardebo family has flourished in Fort Mill, benefiting from the community’s strength and the outstanding educational opportunities offered by the district.
Matt is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, holding a degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology. He went on to earn his MBA with honors in 2002 from Florida Metropolitan University. His time at UCF was marked by leadership in student government and activism, where he helped register thousands of students to vote.
With over 30 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance and Reliability, Matt has risen to the role of Senior Reliability Engineer at JLL, a Fortune 500 company. In this role, Matt uses predictive technologies to ensure that critical infrastructure operates safely and efficiently. His expertise is sought after across industries, and his work plays a vital role in maintaining the readiness of key systems around the globe.
Beyond his professional life, Matt is deeply involved in the Fort Mill community. He volunteers regularly, whether through roadside trash pickups, community events, or participating in local celebrations. Matt has also had the honor of serving as a judge for the annual Great Debate contest at Forest Creek Middle School. His commitment to service is evident in everything he does, from supporting local schools to organizing community cleanups.
In 2022, Matt led the only local Christmas Toy Drive, exclusively benefiting Fort Mill families in need in the Paradise Community. He also remains an active member of the Fort Mill Rotary Club, contributing to various service projects throughout the year. His dedication to building a better, safer, and more inclusive community is a core principle that guides both his personal and professional life.
Today, Matt is running for office with the same passion for service and leadership he’s shown throughout his life. He’s committed to bringing progressive leadership to South Carolina—focused on improving infrastructure, investing in public education, and ensuring access to healthcare for all. Matt believes in the potential of South Carolina to thrive under new, forward-thinking leadership, and he’s ready to fight for that future.
