Matt Vilardebo is a husband, father, and community leader with a deep commitment to progressive values and a vision for a brighter future for York County. For nearly 25 years, Matt and his wife, Elida, a dedicated public school teacher of 22 years, have built their lives together, raising their family with the belief that community is strengthened when people work together toward common goals.
Matt’s journey as a Democrat and community advocate began with his desire to create meaningful change. As a two-time candidate for South Carolina State House District 26 in 2022 and 2024, and a former candidate for Fort Mill Town Council, Matt has proven his dedication to the people of York County. His campaigns championed bold, progressive leadership to address critical issues like infrastructure reform, public education, women’s healthcare, and affordable housing.
Throughout these experiences, Matt has built strong relationships across York County, listening to the needs of voters and working to bring people together. Whether on the front porch or at community events, Matt’s approach has always been rooted in empathy, collaboration, and a commitment to uplifting every voice.
Professionally, Matt is an experienced engineer and program manager specializing in reliability and leadership. His expertise in problem-solving and teamwork has shaped his approach to politics—identifying challenges, developing solutions, and bringing people together to make them happen.
